Jacob Calvin - Law Enforcement - Indiana

Deputy Sheriff Jacob Calvin, age 31, of Kempton, Indiana, died in the line of duty on June 28, 2014, at a hospital in Tipton, Indiana.

Jacob was a member of the Tipton County Sheriff's Office. He had 2 years and 6 months of service.

Jacob was known as Jake to many of his friends. 

Just before 10:00 p.m., Jacob was responding to an emergency report of a motor vehicle accident on a local highway when he was involved in single vehicle accident. His patrol car veered off the roadway and rolled several times, ejecting him. He was rushed to a local hospital where sadly he passed away. The cause of the accident is under investigation. 

Jacob was an Air Force Veteran.  He had served one tour of duty in Iraq.  He left the service as a Sergeant.

Jacob's family stated that he was proud of being a Deputy Sheriff.  He was training to be part of the drug task force.  He felt that he could have a positive impact on the young people in his community.  His family, in turn, are proud of him.

Jacob is described as a family oriented man who always made time for his loved ones. If you needed help, Jacob would show up. 

Jacob was shopping for engagement rings.  His girlfriend is Sammi Hawkins.

The Tipton County Sheriff's Office is in mourning over the death of their brother. Jacob is described as a hard worker who was well respected. He will be forever remembered.

Friends in his community describe him as a pleasant and helpful man.  He will be missed.

Jacob is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members.

Pray for all who die by misadventure.  They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Jacob is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
