Adam Groves - struck down on the street in Edmonton by a hit and run thief

Adam Groves, age 33, died on June 13, 2014, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Adam had just started his own business - Bloodhound Line Locating and Consulting. 


On the morning of June 13, 2014, Police were chasing a man and a woman.  Conflicting reports state that they were seen peering into apartments; other reports state that they had stolen a vehicle, had abandoned it and were fleeing from the scene. The Police apprehended the woman but the male suspect escaped and jumped into Adam's vehicle, which was running. Adam tried to prevent the theft and was hanging onto the back of the truck when he fell off and was dragged under. Adam died of his injuries.  His wife was at the scene and witnessed the tragic death of her loved one. 

The thief sped off with the truck, which was later found abandoned. 

The suspect is described as an Aboriginal male, in his 30's, approximately 6’0”to 6’2”

with a medium build, medium length brown or black hair, and may be wearing jeans with a red and white horizontal striped shirt. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the police at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Friends stated that Adam was a hard working man trying to support his family. That truck was all he had.

Family members stated that Adam loved the outdoors, camping, hockey, video games, golf, snowboarding and baseball.  He had graduated from Bishop Grandin High School in Calgary, and grew up as a talented hockey player, skating for the Calgary Royals club. 

He greatly loved his children. He is a hero to his family. He died coming to the defense of his property which he needed for his job.

Family members are devastated by Adam's sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Adam is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Jolene and their two children, Harley, age 7, and Harmony, age 4. 


Pray for justice for Adam.

God save us from the thieves. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Adam is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
