Jair Cabrera - Law Enforcement - Arizona

Police Officer Jair Cabrera, age 37, died in the line of duty on May 24, 2014, at a hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Officer Cabrera was a member of the Salt River Tribal Police Department. He had 7 years of service.

Jair made a traffic stop near a Chevron gas station within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian community at 3:05 am. A suspect exited the vehicle armed with a rifle and opened fire. Jair was hit by a bullet that went through the windshield of his police cruiser. 

Three suspects were taken into custody.

Friends stated that Jair had a big heart and a bigger smile. He had a sense of humor and wanted to make others smile. He will be forever remembered.

The Salt River Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother.

Jair's family are devastated over his tragic and senseless death. He will be forever mourned.

Jair is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother and father; his brother; and his girlfriend.

Thank you for your service to the public, Jair.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to others.

Pray that Jair is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
