Cora Delille - a teenage suicide in Ohio

Cora Delille, age 15, died on May 10, 2014, at her family home in Pickerington, Ohio.
Cora Delille

Cora hung herself.

She was a student at Ridgeview Junior High.

She left a note saying "Thanks for all the pain".  She named four students, two of which were ex-boyfriends, as contributors to her agony.

Police investigated charges of bullying and found evidence of name calling but nothing to warrent prosecution.

Cora was going through a troubled time.  Her mother and her step-father were reportedly in the middle of a divorce and she felt unloved and left out at home. She felt abandoned by her biological father. She had broken up with her boyfriend the day before she died. She had endured name calling and nasty comments in the hallways at school and at a recent dance.  One troll had stated that she was glad Cora was dead and some disparaging comments have been posted on the Internet.

There were many personal factors going on in Cora's head at the time of her death.  This tragedy cannot be blamed entirely on bullying, but bullying didn't help. It no doubt put her over the edge.

To any teens who are reading this:
  • “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.” (Plato).
  • Don't contribute to another's downfall. Tomorrow or five years from now, it could be you who is hitting the skids.
  • There is nothing cool about human suffering.
Saint Bernadette of Lourdes, who said
"I am ground like a grain of wheat",
pray for Cora and for all who are
ground down by torment
