Marquis Gresham - a teenage victim of a drive-by shooting in Michigan

Marquis Gresham, age 17, died on April 23, 2014, at a hospital in Muskegon Heights, Michigan.

Muskegon Heights has a population of approximately 10,800.

Marquis was walking with friends at just after 6:00 p.m. They were on their way to a high school sports banquet. Marquis was due to receive an award that evening.

About a mile from the Muskegon Heights High School, several shots were fired from a passing vehicle at the crowd of walking kids and Marquis was struck in the chest. Neighbors performed CPR. He was transported to the hospital where sadly he passed away. 

The vehicle involved in the drive-by shooting is described as a burgundy SUV. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call 72-CRIME or Muskegon Heights Police at 231-733-8900.

The motive for this shooting is unknown as of the date of this posting.

His family is devastated over his tragic and senseless death. He will be forever mourned.

Friends describe Marquis as a nice guy, who liked to laugh.  He had his whole life ahead of him.

School officials describe him as an upcoming student leader who will be greatly missed.

Marquis is survived by many loving friends and family members.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to others.

Pray that Marquis is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
