Gregg Maloney - Law Enforcement - Massaschusetts

Police Officer Gregg Maloney, age 43, died in the line of duty on April 1, 2014, at a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Gregg was a member of the Plymouth Police Department. He had 17 years of service. 

Gregg and another motorcycle officer were on patrol in Plymouth. After 2:00 p.m., he was suddenly knocked off of his motorcycle.  He had not been in collision with any other vehicle and his cycle did not collide with or brush up against the other officer's cycle.   

He was rushed to a hospital in Plymouth and then airlifted to a hospital in Boston where he was pronounced deceased.

The cause of this accident is under investigation.

The Plymouth Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. 

Gregg had been a member of the Department's motorcycle squad since 2009.  Police comrades stated that he loved working with the squad. 

He was a member of the MetroLec regional police consortium which is a group of over 43 local area police departments and agencies who band together to provide law enforcement services in the case of unique crimes, emergencies and disasters. Gregg was part of the combined response to the Boston Marathon bombings.

Police officials stated that Gregg was well liked by his comrades.  He was an active officer.  He was a family man who loved his wife and his two sons.  He was a hard worker who will be greatly missed. 

Gregg's family are devastated by his sudden and tragic passing.  He will be forever mourned. 

Gregg is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and his two teenage sons.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

Pray that Gregg is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
