Roberto Skelt - U.S. Military

Sgt. First Class Roberto C. Skelt, age 41, of York, Florida, died on February 12, 2014, in Kapisa Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he was struck by enemy small arms fire.

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Roberto enlisted in October of 1990 as a signal support systems specialist.  He graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course as a Special Forces engineer sergeant in 2005. 

He deployed twice to Afghanistan and once to Yemen with 3rd Group.

Roberto went on to serve at the Army's John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School and the 1st Special Warfare Training Group (A) at Fort Bragg. 

His awards include the Bronze Star Medal (3rd Oak Leaf Cluster), the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd

His loved ones are devastated by his death and will forever mourn him.

Roberto is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents; two sisters and one brother; his wife and his two sons.

Thank you for serving, Roberto.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Roberto.

Pray that Roberto is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
