Jacob Hess - U.S. Military

Sgt. Jacob M. Hess, age 22, of Spokane, Washington, died on January 1, 2014, while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Jacob was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 26, Marine Aircraft Group 26, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

The cause of his death has not been released as of this posting.

He was known as Jake to his family and friends.

Jake came from a military family. He spent 7 years of his youth in Okinawa, Japan, before his family moved to Spokane.

Jacob graduated from North Central High School in 2009. Friends there describe Jake

as full of life, a hard worker and well-liked.

He attended Spokane Falls Community College in 2009 and joined the Marines in 2010. 

His family will forever grieve his loss.

Jacob is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Keirsten Lyons.

Thank you for serving, Jake. 

Pray for all who die young and in a foreign land.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Jake. God give us peace.

Pray that Jacob is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
