Alex Martinez - a car crash victim in Fountain Valley, California

Alex Martinez, age 32, died on August 21, 2013, at a hospital near Huntington Beach, California.

Alex was working at his job as a tutor at a tutoring center in Fountain Valley.

At about 12:30 p.m., on August 19, 2013, a car crashed into the tutoring centre, right through the windows, striking 5 people. Also injured were two 15-year-old boys, a 20-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman as well as the driver. The force of the crash was so strong that the car reached the back of the building. The Tutoring Club was in session when the crash happened.

Alex was transported to a local hospital where he lived for 2 days until taken off of life support.

Alex had graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. He had worked for 7 years and was preparing to apply for dental school.

Alex Martinez was the most senior tutor at the Fountain Valley tutoring center, where
Saint Bernadette of

he taught kids math, science and English and helped high school students prepare for the SAT.

A 76 year old man was the driver of the car that crashed into the building. He may have had a stroke or some other medical condition. After the accident, he seemed to be in shock.

It may be time for California authorities to set in place driving re-tests for men and women over age 70. Driving is a privilege and not a right.  Medical issues should affect your right to drive.

Why you ask?  Because old men kill young men due to bad driving.  That's why.

Alex is survived by many loving friends and relatives who will forever miss him.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Pray for all who go to work and die there. Amen.

Pray that Alex is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
