Christopher Douglas - Firefighter - California

Firefighter and Paramedic Christopher Douglas, age 41, of Temecula, California, died in the line of duty on July 5, 2013, on a highway near Thousand Palms, California.

Chris Douglas
Chris was a member of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. He was based with the Riverside County Unit of the Department. He had 8 years of service.

As Chris was preparing to leave the site of one traffic collision in order to respond to another, he was struck by a vehicle. His fire truck was parked on the right shoulder when a pickup truck struck the driver’s side and Chris. He was transported to a local hospital but tragically passed away.

The driver of the pickup, stopped and was cooperative with authorities. He is unnamed as of this posting, but is a 60 year old disabled army veteran and a Coachella Valley resident. He consented to a blood test, but drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.

Fire Department officials stated that they are saddened at the passing of Chris. They are in mourning.

Chris was a native of Colorado Springs. He had previously served in the U.S. Air
