On June 8, 2013, Mike Patterson, age 43, dove into the waters of Euharlee Clerk, Georgia, to save a little girl floundering in the fast moving stream.

Javeah Jones had been playing in the creek and stepped into a section of deep water and was dragged under.

Mike dove into water that was less than 6 feet deep, hit his head and broke his neck in three places and severed his spine.

He was able to somehow push the little girl up to the surface of the water.  She was rescued.

The mother of the little girl, stated that Mike is a God-send for saving her child. She describes him as a hero and an angel.

Mike is a parent too.  He had been at the dam with his young son when the incident happened.

The Good Samaritan comes to the
aid of strangers, selflessly.
He had just started a new job as a contractor a couple of weeks ago and didn't have medical insurance.

Mike's family members state that Mike was always coming to the aid of others.  When he was 8 years old he once begged his mother for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to feed a homeless man he saw eating out of a dumpster.  Just two weeks ago, he came to a stranger's aid when a tractor-trailer and an SUV collided.

Donations towards Mike's hospital bills and after-care can be made via the Facebook group "Friends of Mike Patterson."

Pray for Mike's recovery.

Thank God for men like Mike Patterson who come to the aid of strangers.  We need more men like him on this planet.  Amen.
