Cameron Baird - Australian Military

Corporal Cameron Baird, age 32, died on June 22, 2013, in the Khod Valley, Uruzgan, Afghanistan.

He was killed by enemy small arms fire.

Cameron was a Special Forces soldier assigned to the Sydney based 2nd Commando Regiment.

He was born in Burnie, Tasmania. He joined the Army in January of 2000.

He was on his fifth tour of duty in Afghanistan. He also served tours of duty in Iraq and East Timor.

Military officials stated that he died how he lived – at the front, giving his all, without any indecision. He will be forever remembered.

Cameron had previously been awarded the Medal for Gallantry. In 2007, during a

mission in Afghanistan, he led members of his unit through a mass of machine gun and rifle fire in a desperate attempt to save a mortally wounded Australian soldier.

Cameron is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, his brother, and his partner.

Thank you for serving, Cameron.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Cameron.

Pray that Cameron is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
