Spencer, his wife Tammy and his two children |
The incident began at about 4:55 a.m. when Maria Lopez, age 44, of Fairfield, lost control of her vehicle while driving east in the No. 2 lane west of Dixon Avenue. Her car overturned and landed on its roof in the fast lane.
Spencer was on his way to work and pulled over near the center divider east of the crash scene to help. He freed the woman from her seatbelt. A short time later, both Spencer and the woman were struck by a vehicle driven by Golden Pryor, age 32. They both were taken to the University of California at Davis Medical Center. Spencer died there at 6:11 a.m.
Maria Lopez is expected to survive. Golden Pryor was not injured, and has not been charged with any crime as of this posting. It appears that drugs and alcohol were not factors in this crash.
