Jeremiah MacKay - Law Enforcement - California

Detective Jeremiah MacKay, age 35, died in the line of duty on February 12, 2013, in the Big Bear area of San Bernardino County, California.

Michael, Archangel,
Patron Saint of the
Police, pray for
Jeremiah
Jeremiah was a member of the San Berardino County Police Department. He had 15 years of service.

Jeremiah was one of the officers involved in the final confrontation with Christopher Jordan Dorner, age 33, who was linked to the shootings of police officers in Corona and the murders of Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence. Christopher Dorner was a Los Angeles Police Officer from 2002 until 2009, when he was accused of making false statements against another officer. He was fired. He has been on a killing spree in retaliation for being fired.

Christopher Dorner fled to the Big Bear area of San Bernardino County where he barricaded himself inside a cabin, which was immediately surrounded by law enforcement officers as the SWAT team responded to the area. Hundreds of rounds were exchanged during a prolonged shootout in which Detective MacKay and another deputy were both wounded. Both deputies were flown to Loma Linda University Hospital where Detective MacKay succumbed to his wounds.

It is believed that Christopher Dorner's body was found in the burned out remains of the cabin.

Jeremiah attended Rim of the World High School. He joined the Police Department in July of 1998. He was also a field training officer with the department.

Police Department officials stated that the department is in mourning for Jeremiah.

Family members stated that he loved his job and the idea of protecting people. He had a sense of humor and was a devoted family man.

Jeremiah MacKay is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Lynette; a 7 year old daughter and a 4 month old son.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Thank you for serving, Jeremiah.

God save us from the Lost Ones who stalk the Earth stealing away life. Amen.

Let us pray that Jeremiah MacKay is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
