Aaron Wittman

Sgt. Aaron X. Wittman, age 28, of Chester, Virginia, died on January 10, 2013, in Khogyani District, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained when his unit was attacked by small arms fire while on mounted patrol. 

He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. 

Aaron was a graduate of The Citadel. He joined the Army in 2008 and arrived at Fort Stewart in early 2012.

He was on his second deployment to Afghanistan. He had previously been awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals.

Family members stated that Aaron was a man who got along with everybody. He lived life to the full. He loved fishing and crabbing. He was outgoing and had many friends. Aaron was passionate about his military service. 

 Family members are proud of him and of his service to his country. 

Aaron is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his brother, Nick. 

Thank you for serving, Aaron.

Let us pray that Aaron Wittman is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
