Rick Merlino - A Good Samaritan in Colorado who said - I got you

Kimberly's car
Kimberly Garcia, age 22, had a car accident on December 27, 2012, in Windsor, Colorado.

On her drive home from work, the car slid off the road, flipped over and fell into an icy pond. The back window shattered and the frigid water began filling the car.

The ice surrounding the car meant she couldn’t push the front doors open wide enough to escape. Panic began to set in. She went to the back and tried opening the back, but couldn't. She was losing strength and was giving up. She was able to climb through the broken back window but couldn't move further as she lay on the top of the ice.

Rick Merlino was driving from from work when he saw the accident scene, went out into the pond and pulled Kimberly to the embankment.

This is the Good Samaritan in the
Bible.  Modern day Samaritans are
those who come to the aid of
strangers who are in danger
and despair.
During this incident, Kimberly was telling Rick Merlino - "I’m giving up." And he responded, "No, I got you."

"I got you" is the essence of being a Good Samaritan. It is what being a Good Samaritan is all about.

Rick Merlino later stated that he really didn't do much. But of course he did. He put himself at risk to help a stranger in danger. Others would have stayed in their cars and wept and called 911 but would have done nothing else.

Kimberly Garcia states that Rick Merlino saved her life and she will be forever grateful. She has a 4 year old child.

God bless Rick Merlino. Amen

God knows that we need more men like him on this planet.
