Martoiya Lang - Law Enforcement - Tennessee

Officer Martoiya Lang, age 32, died in the line of duty on December 14, 2012, in Memphis, Tennessee.

She was a member of the Memphis Police Department. She had 9 1/2 years of service.

At 8:00 a.m., Martoiya and another officer were serving a narcotics search warrant at a home In East Memphis. After forcing entry into the home, they encountered a suspect who fired numerous shots, striking both officers. They returned fire and wounded the suspect.

The suspect is 21 years old and is in the hospital in critical condition as of this posting.

The other wounded officer, who was shot in the leg, has been released from the hospital. 

Police officials stated that they are devastated by the loss of Officer Lang.  All Memphis police officers are grieving. 

Martoiya is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her four children.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
