Juan Escamillo-Rojas and his son swept out to sea

Juan Escamillo-Rojas, age 37, and his son Juan, age 9, both of San Francisco, died on December 28, 2012, in the waters of San Francisco Bay, California.

The father and son loved fishing and were on a routine fishing trip. They were fishing from shore with a family friend.

Suddenly a huge wave swept the child into the icy water. Juan, the father, screamed "My son! My son!” , and dove in shortly after 4:00 p.m.  He tried to pull his 9-year-old boy back to shore but they were pulled out farther and farther.

The family friend still on shore, cast a line out to the man and boy, but the line snapped. Both the father and his son drowned.

Santa MarĂa, madre de Dios, ruega por
Juan y por su hijo
Juan and his son are survived by many loved ones, including Juan's wife, Guadalupe Monroy and their 10 year old daughter.  She is trying to raise funds to return the bodies of her husband and son to Mexico City for burial.

Pray for those who die suddenly and by misadventure. Amen.

Pray for the fathers who die for their sons. Amen.

Let us pray that Juan Escamillo-Rojas and his son, Juan are holding each other's hands in heaven. Let us pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
