Jimmie Norman - Law Enforcement - Texas - and Terry Taylor, an Innocent Bystander

Jimmie Norman
Officer Jimmie Norman, age 53, died on December 24, 2012, in Houston, Texas.

Jimmie was a member of the Bellaire Police Department. He had 23 years of service.

Before 9:00 a.m., Officer Norman stopped the driver of a black Honda for a traffic violation on a local street. The driver initially pulled over, but then sped away. The officer chased him. During the chase, the suspect clipped a white Ford F-150 pickup. The truck driver then followed the Honda, which pulled into the driveway of an auto body shop. The officer arrived seconds later.

The officer approached the Honda and a confrontation erupted between him and the driver. Within moments, the suspect pulled out a handgun and opened fire, fatally wounding the officer. The officer didn't get a chance to draw his weapon.

Terry Taylor, the manager of the auto body shop, was also shot and killed by the suspect, as Terry came out onto the parking lot. Terry had been working at this location for 26 years.

Other officers arrived at the scene, were fired upon and they returned fire. The suspect was shot, fled on foot but was arrested.

Friends describe Jimmie Norman as having a big heart, and a man who was always interested in police issues.  He was a cop through and through.

Saint Michael, Patron
Saint of the Police,

Pray for all who die innocently as bystanders. They die unjustly due to the evil actions of others.

God save us from the Lost Ones who stalk the Earth stealing away life. Amen.

Let us pray that Jimmie Norman is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
