Ivan was a member of the Puerto Rico Police Department. He had 1 year and 4 months of service.
Ivan and another officer responded to a call regarding a robbery at a pharmacy in Toa Baja at approximately 8:40 p.m.

As the officers arrived at the scene, Agent Roman-Matos pursued one subject while his partner pursued a second subject. The first subject opened fire and, despite wearing a vest, Agent Roman-Matos was struck four times in the head and neck. He was transported to Doctors Center Hospital where he died a short time later.
Both subjects fled the scene and remain at large.
Ivan is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his 9 year old son.
Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
