Thomas Butler

Sgt. Thomas J. Butler IV, age 25, of Wilmington, North Carolina, died on October 1, 2012, in Khost, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when an insurgent detonated a suicide vest near him.

He was assigned to the 514th Military Police Company, 60th Troop Command, Winterville, North Carolina. 

He was known as TJ to his family and friends. 

He graduated from Topsail High School in 2006. He had been in the military for about 4 years.

He had only been in Afghanistan for a little more than two weeks. 

High School officials describe Thomas as a stand out person. 

Family stated that Thomas always wanted to be a police officer. 

Thomas is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Holly and his 6 month old son, also named Thomas. 

Let us pray that Thomas Butler IV is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
