Joel Del Mundo Tiu

Cmdr. Joel Del Mundo Tiu, age 49, of Manila, Philippines, died on October 12, 2012, as a result of non-combat related injuries. 

The cause of his death has not been released as of this posting. 

He was assigned to Logistics Forces, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Manama, Bahrain.

Joel served in the Navy Supply Corps and had been assigned to the Naval Forces Central Command in Manama, Bahrain, since January of 2011.

Joel enlisted in 1984 and rose to the rank of chief before he was commissioned as an officer in 1995.

Joel had previously served aboard six ships, including the frigate Crommelin, amphibious assault ship Essex and destroyer tender Acadia. Before reporting to Bahrain, he was assigned to Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center-Forward in Norfolk, Virginia. 

He also served in Saudi Arabia, Germany and Guam during his 28-year career.

Joel is survived by many loving friends and relatives.
