Sean Smith - American Diplomat killed in Libya

Sean Smith, age 34, died on September 11, 2012, in Benghazi, Libya.

Sean was an Information Management Officer in the Diplomatic Service, stationed at the American Embassy in Benghazi.

Sean and three others were killed during protests and riots directed at the Embassy over an internet film which ridicules the Prophet Muhammad and the Islamic religion.

He was an Air Force veteran with 10 years in the Foreign Service who was in Libya for what was supposed to be a brief, temporary mission. Sean had previously served in Baghdad, Pretoria, Montreal and The Hague.

Sean was an avid member of a number of Internet interactive gaming groups and Internet forums.

Government officials describe Sean as one of their best.

Friends describe him as a genuinely warm and funny guy.

Father, place Sean on the
stairway to Heaven.
Sean is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Heather and their young son and daughter.

God save us from the extremists of every religion. They will kill you in the name of God.

Let us pray that Sean Smith is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
