Bruce was a member of the Jupiter Police Department. He had 20 years of service - 18 of those years as a motorcycle cop.
Officer St. Laurent was assigned to the motorcade escorting President Barack Obama from a campaign event in Palm Beach County. At about 4:40 p.m, he was struck by a pick-up truck on the I-95 on ramp as he was preparing to close access to the highway from the on-ramp as the presidential motorcade neared. The impact pushed him and his motorcycle into a guardrail. He was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, in West Palm Beach where he succumbed to his injuries.
Bruce was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, and moved to Jupiter, Florida in 1973, and had lived there ever since. He began his decorated career with the Jupiter Police Department in 1992. Three times, most recently in 2008, Bruce was named "Officer of the Quarter," and in 1996, he was selected as the "Officer of the Year".
