Richard Essex

Sgt. Richard A. Essex, age 23, of Kelseyville, California, died on August 16, 2012, in a helicopter crash northeast of Kandahar, Afghanistan. 

Richard was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Richard attended Kelseyville High School. Officials there describe him as a positive kid, who was proud of what he was doing.

Family members describe him as a free spirit, who played the bass guitar, and was an artist and a published poet.

Richard is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his parents Marion and Brett Hopkins.

Let us pray that Richard Essex is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
