Walker Olson - Volunteer Firefighter - Iowa

Walker Olson, age 18, of Oxford, Iowa, died on July 9, 2012, near Frytown, Iowa.

He was a volunteer member of the Coralville Fire Department and had previously worked as a volunteer member of the Oxford Fire Department.

He died of an accident at his job at a grain elevator. The accident was not related to his service as a volunteer firefighter.

Saint Florian, Patron
Saint of Firefighters,
pray for Walker
Walker graduated from Clear Creek Amana High School in 2011. He had received his national firefighting certification, started at the Oxford Fire Department as a junior fireman a couple of years ago. He had just finished his first year at Kirkwood Community College in the Fire Sciences Program, working toward his goal of becoming a full-time fireman.

Fire fighting comrades describe Walker as a very hard worker and a good kid with drive and commitment. He is also described as an asset to firefighting. He was eager.

Walker is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Clint and Lisa Olson and his brother, Tyler Olson.

Pray for all who die young and tragically. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Some of them barely had a chance to live.

Everyone prays for the bad boys and the troubled boys.  Pray for a good boy this time.

Let us pray that Walker Olson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
