Erik May

Sgt. Erik N. May, age 26, of Independence, Kansas, died on July 14, 2012, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan. 

Erik was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.

It is reported that Erik was found unresponsive. He was transported to a medical facility, where he was pronounced deceased. The cause of his death is under investigation.

Erik joined the Army in September of 2007 and was assigned to Fort Riley in February of 2009. He was on his second deployment when he died. He had previously served in Iraq in 2009.

His awards include an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghan Campaign Medal with one campaign star, and the Iraq Campaign Medal with one campaign star.

Erik is survived by many loving friends and relatives. 

Let us pray that Erik May is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
