Tom Boyle - Civilian Contractor - Afghanistan

Civilian Contractor Tom Boyle, age 62, of Barrington Hills, Illinois, died on June 18, 2012, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

He was killed by insurgents. Tom was working as a civilian security consultant, training Afghan police officers.

Tom had been a Marine and a Vietnam Veteran, who had earned the Cross of Gallantry. He had served the Chicago Police Department for 30 years and, upon retirement, went on to work for a private detective agency, and then as a security contractor overseas. In addition to the time he served in Afghanistan, Tom Boyle also served in Kosovo and Iraq, where he provided security and training in law enforcement.

Light a candle for Tom.
Light his way to Heaven.
Family members describe Tom as a serious man with a sense of humor, who always tried to make a difference in society whether as a Marine or a police officer or as a civilian contractor. He is also described as a patriot who loved his country.

Friends have stated that Tom was a great guy and a professional, who will be greatly missed.

Pauline, Tom's wife, said that after he retired from the Police Force, he wanted to do something that would make a difference in this world.

Tom is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Pauline; and his son, Ryan and daughter-in-law, Andrea. Tom was predeceased by both of his parents.

Let us pray that Tom Boyle is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
