Michael Maloney - Law Enforcement - New Hampshire

Police Chief Michael Maloney, age 48, died on April 12, 2012, in the line of duty, in Greenland, New Hampshire.

Michael was the Chief of the Greenland Police Department, New Hampshire. He had 12 years of service with the Department and 26 years of service in law enforcement. 

Michael was shot and killed while serving a drug-related search warrant with officers from the Attorney General's Drug Task Force shortly after 6:00 p.m. A subject in the home opened fire with a rifle, killing Chief Maloney and wounding four other officers. The subject barricaded himself in the house following the shooting. He and a female were found dead several hours later after a SWAT team forced entry into the home.

Michael was 8 days from retirement. 

Family members describe him as a dedicated police officer, very professional, courteous and kind.  He is also described as a man who loved his kids and his new grandson. 

Friends describe him as kind-hearted and a great guy who was always visible in the community. 

Michael is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Peg Maloney; his adult son and daughter from his former marriage to Charlene Pantelakos - Michael and Serena; and his newly born grandson "MJ". 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Michael Maloney is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
