John Wilkinson Jr. - Firefighter - Kentucky

Fire Chief John Earl Wilkinson Jr., age 44, died on April 13, 2012, in Kentucky.

He was a member of the Dreamland Fire Department, Kentucky. He had 25 years of service.

John had responded to a tree fire on the night of April 12, and died after his own firefighters responded to his residence for a medical call. It is believed that John suffered a heart attack at his home.

Saint Florian, Patron Saint
of Firefighters, pray for
John
John joined the department in 1985 and worked his way up through the ranks as a volunteer to the rank of captain. He was appointed chief in October of 2010. He also served as an assistant fire chief for the Kentucky Air National Guard.

John comes from a family tradition of firefighting. His grandfather, firefighter Earl J. Wilkinson, was killed in 1950 when the fire truck in which he was riding rolled over. His father, John Wilkinson Sr. served as Fire Chief from 1994 to 2010, when he passed away.

John is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and child.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that John Earl Wilkinson Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
