Joseph D'Augustine

Sgt. Joseph D’Augustine, age 29, of Waldwick, New Jersey, died on March 27, 2012, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. 

Joseph graduated from Waldwick High School in 2001. He wrestled and played football in high school.

He joined the US Marine Corps in 2000, and was promoted to sergeant in 2008. In 2004 and in 2008, Joseph deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2011, he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.

Family members describe Joseph as a great brother, a great son and uncle. They stated that he was well loved and that they are proud of him. 

Friends describe Joseph as a good kid who was fun loving. Others describe him as a great American who loved the military. 

Joseph is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Anthony and Patricia; and sisters, Nicole, Jennifer and Michele. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Joseph D'Augustine is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
