John Mezzatesta - Firefighter - New York

John Mezzatesta, age 38, died on March 21, 2012, in New York State. 

John was a lifetime member of the Briarcliff Manor Volunteer Fire Department. He died of a brain tumour. 

John was born in Bronxville, New York. While in high school, he raised a seeing-eye dog for Yorktown Guiding Eyes for the Blind and received a Briarcliff Rotary volunteer award. He graduated from Briarcliff High School in 1992 and received a bachelor's of science degree in political science from Florida State University.

John then began a 15-year career in promotional products. Starting out in Bic Graphic USA, he worked for Adva-Liite Promotional Products for seven years. In 2008, he started his own company, Advanced Multi-Line Services, which he ran for three years.  In January of 2012, he was hired as strategic accounts manager for Gold Bond, Inc. Throughout his career, John earned several awards, including Bic Graphic President's Club of Sales and Zone Manager of the Year for three years at Adva-Lite. 

An avid boater and fisherman, he held a captain's license and was certified in CPR and as a lifeguard. As a volunteer firefighter, he enjoyed taking center stage during fire safety week at local elementary schools.

John is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Diane and Tony; his brothers Anthony and Chris; his wife, Rachel and his children J.P. and Mandy. 

Pray for all who die young. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that John Mezzatesta is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
