Daniel Wilford

British Private Daniel Wilford, age 21, died on March 6, 2012, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

He was a member of the 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment.

Daniel was from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

Family members describe Daniel as a hero. They stated that they are hugely proud of him. They also describe him as a loving and caring man, and a generous, loveable guy who never forgot his home, his family and his friends.

Friends stated that Daniel was known as “Wilf" to his friends, and was happy-go-lucky and confident, and his smile would light up any room.

Light a candle for Daniel.
Light his way to Heaven.
Military officials describe Daniel as the archetypal Yorkshire infantry soldier, quiet, unassuming but with a great deal of character.

Daniel is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Diane Sharples; brother, Alex; and step-father, Paul Sharples. Daniel was predeceased by his father.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Daniel Wilford is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
