Christophe Schnetterle

French soldier Captain Christophe Schnetterle, age 45, died on March 27, 2012, in Paris, France.

Christophe was with the 93rd Mountain Artillery Regiment based in Varces.

He succumbed to wounds sustained when he was shot by an Afghan army colleague on January 20, 2012, in Kapisa Province, Afghanistan.

Christophe was born in Voiron. He enlisted in the military in 1986. This was his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. Before serving in Afghanistan, he had served in Djibouti in 2000, Guyana in 2001 and 2003, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire in 2005, Martinique in 2006 and Lebanon in 2009. 

Military officials describe him as efficient, professional, disciplined, consistent, hard working and level headed. 

Christophe is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and his two daughters. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Christophe Schnetterle is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
