John King

British Private John King, age 19, died on December 30, 2011, in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

John was on a foot patrol and was caught in the blast from an improvised explosive device.

He was with the 1st Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment.

John was from Darlington. He joined the Army in 2009 and deployed to Afghanistan in October.

Angels of God, pray for John
John's family stated: "John was a tremendous son, brother and boyfriend. He was a devoted grandson, a loving family member, and a proud soldier who died doing a job he adored. He will be sadly missed by all his family, friends, and loyal German Shepherd dog Rex."

Military officials describe John as a hard worker, with grit and a willingness to endure hardship. They also stated that he was popular and had a cheeky smile that everyone will miss.

John is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother Karen, father Barry, brothers Ian and Stephen, and girlfriend Kelly.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that John King is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
