Thomas Mayberry

Spc. Thomas J. Mayberry, age 21, of Springville, California, died on December 3, 2011, in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bliss, Texas.\

He joined the Army in 2009.

Family members stated that Thomas had a rough and troubled childhood but was not going to let his past hold him back. They also stated that he was proud to be a soldier and that he was their hero. 

Thomas had been stationed in Camp Casey, South Korea, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with a Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Thomas is survived by many loving friends and family members including his wife and his brother.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Thomas J. Mayberry is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
