James Rice - Firefighter - Massachusetts

Firefighter James Rice, age 46, died in the line of duty, on December 23, in Salem, Massachusetts.

James was a member of the Peabody Fire Department, Massachusetts. He had 11 years of service with the Department. 

James was battling a three-alarm fire at a three-story apartment building in Peabody. He was between the 2nd and 3rd floors, when he collapsed after breathing in toxic fumes. Firefighters and paramedics worked on James at the scene, and he was immediately transported to Salem Hospital, where he passed away.

James had worked in the banking industry for 9 years but decided he wanted a change. He joined the Peabody Fire Department in 2001 after graduating from the state Firefighting Academy in Stow. 

Fire Officials describe James as well-liked and popular in the community. 

James is also described as a man who loved his wife and children. 

James is survived by many loving friends, comrades and family including his wife, Amy; two young daughters Alyssa and Katelyn and a young son, Ryan. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that James Rice is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
