Jon Young - Firefighter - New Jersey

Fire Captain Jon Young, age 50, died in the line of duty on November 16, 2011, in New Jersey.

Jon was a volunteer member of the Roselle Fire Department.

Captain Young was responding to a fire in his POV when he crashed. First responders performed CPR. He was then transported to the hospital where, a short time later, he passed away. The cause of death was an apparent heart attack while he was driving.
Saint Florian, Patron Saint
of Firefighters, pray for Jon.

Jon Young is remembered as someone who was always doing something for the community in which he worked.

Officials stated that Whether he was fighting fires or working EMS, he spent 23½ hours a day doing something for the borough.

During his years of service, Jon performed many acts of courage including helping to save a woman from a burning house, rescuing a driver from a fiery wreck and wading through an icy lake to pull a dog to safety.

Friends and comrades describe Jon as always being there when he was needed, as having a big heart and a genuine man. Others describe Jon as caring and welcoming.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Jon Young is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
