Bryce Duffy

Australian Captain Bryce Duffy, age 26, was killed on October 29, 2011, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when an Afghan army officer turned his gun on his foreign colleagues.

Bryce was a member of the 4th Field Regiment, based in Townsville. He was born in Sydney and educated in Brisbane and Canberra.

He served with the 1st Field Regiment between 2007 and 2010 and then transferred to the 4th Field Regiment in Townsville in January 2011 as Assistant Operations Officer, before his second deployment to Afghanistan in September. He volunteered for the tour after another officer was wounded in action.
Light a candle for Bryce.
Light his way to Heaven.

His honours and awards include the Australian Defence Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation 1st Mentoring Task Force Afghanistan 20 January to 30 October 2010; NATO Non Article 5 Medal with clasp International Security Assistance Force (ISAF); Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Australian Active Service Medal with clasp International Coalition Against Terrorism (ICAT).

His family describe him as a consummate professional, extremely competent and very well respected by his colleagues and commanders. They also stated that he was passionate about what he did, truly believed in his cause, and always strived to serve his country in the best way possible.

Bryce is survived by many loving friends and family members including his mother and his partner.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Bryce Duffy is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
