He was assigned to the 395th Ordnance Company, 687th Combat Sustainment Support Brigade, 646th Regional Support Group, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Wausau, Wisconsin.
Military officials stated that Garrick was shot and killed in the line of duty. Garrick was on his third overseas deployment, having previously served in Iraq in 2005 and 2009.
He was a graduate of Appleton North High School and was the youngest of five children.

Family members stated that they are proud of Garrick and that he was proud to serve in the military.
Garrick is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Linda and Garrick Eppinger Sr. and his 22 month old daughter, Leonorea.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Garrick L. Eppinger Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
