Franklyn "Frankie" Watson

Lance Corporal Franklyn "Frankie" Watson, age 21, of Vonore, Tennessee, was killed in action in Afghanistan on September 24, 2011.

His unit was sweeping for Improvised Explosive Devices, when they were attacked by insurgents.

This was his first tour to Afghanistan. He had been in Afghanistan for three months.

Light a candle for Frankie. Light his
way to Heaven.
Frankie was a 2008 graduate of Sequoyah High School. He then attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy at Cleveland State in 2009, while he was employed as a deputy with Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. He then left the sheriff’s office and became a part-time officer with Madisonville Police before enlisting in the Marine Corps.

Family members describe him as a brave young man with a heart of gold. Everyone seemed to love him. They said that he had an engaging smile and could make people laugh. They also said that he is a hero and a patriot.

Friends describe him as strong, athletic and competitive.

Frankie is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his step-father, Lowell Russell.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Frankie Watson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
