Derrick Whittle - Law Enforcement - Georgia

Deputy Sheriff Derrick Whittle, age 39, died on September 18, 2011, in a hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He was a member of the Union County Sheriff's Office, Georgia. He had been with the Department for less than one year.

On September 15, 2011, Derrick was responding to a domestic disturbance involving weapons when his patrol car left the roadway and struck a tree, in Georgia. He was transported to a local hospital before being flown to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he remained until succumbing to his injuries.

Derrick is survived by his wife, Karen, and their two children, Nick and Leah.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
