He was off duty and observed a group of men arguing in front of a local bar. One of the men was brandishing a handgun.

Emiliano identified himself as a Police Officer and tried to intervene in the argument when he was shot as many as 10 times by multiple suspects.
Agent Torres-Soto had served with the Puerto Rico Police Department for 10 years and was assigned to Radio Command Ponce.
Police Officials stated that Emiliano truly served the principles of the police and that they are proud of his service.
Emiliano is survived by numerous loving family members and friends, including his wife, two sons, stepdaughter, parents, and five brothers.
Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Emiliano Torres Soto is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
