David R. Carter

David R. Carter, age 47, of Colorado, was killed on August 6, 2011, in the Tangi Valley of Wardak Province, Afghanistan, when a U.S. helicopter crashed.

He was a helicopter pilot. David Carter had been a part of the National Guard for at least 10 years and worked as a flight instructor when not overseas. He had previously served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Light a candle for David.  Light
his way to Heaven.

He left Colorado for Fort Hood, Texas, in May and had probably been in Afghanistan for 10 to 14 days before his death.

He is described as very charismatic and a natural leader. He is also called a gifted pilot, a patient teacher and a man of quiet strength.

David graduated from Hays High School in Hays, Kansas, 1982, and attended Fort Hays State University. He received his bachelor of science degree in the spring of 1987.

He has two children - Kyle and Kaitlen.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that David R. Carter is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
