Firefighter Deon Classay, age 43, of Whiteriver, Arizona, died in the line of duty on July 24, 2011. Deon was battling the lightning-caused Diamond Fire that broke out north of the Black River, Arizona on July 23, 2011. When his crew returned to camp, they realized that Deon was missing.
Deon joined the Fort Apache Hotshots Firefighters in 1990. He was a member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

Deon is described as an outdoors person, who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Deon is survived by his wife, two children, two grandchildren, his mother, three sisters and two brothers.
Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Deon Classay is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
