Matthew D. Hermanson

Sgt. Matthew D. Hermanson, 22, of Appleton, Wis., died April 28, in Wardak province, Afghanistan of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La.

He joined the U.S. Army in 2007, completed training at Fort Benning, Georgia and was subsequently stationed to Fort Polk in 2007. He deployed to in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2007 to January. Matthew deployed with his unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Matthew D. Hermanson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
