Joel Ramirez

Joel
Pvt. Joel Ramirez, age 22, of Waxahachie, Texas, died on April 16, 2011, in Nimroz province, Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. 

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

Joel enlisted in the U.S. Army about a year-and-a-half ago, going through boot camp at Fort Benning, Ga., before transferring to Fort Drum, N.Y. He had been deployed to Afghanistan about a month at the time of his death.

A machine gunner in the service, the family said Joel excelled in the military – as he had at school with his studies and soccer.

Joel Ramirez's awards and decorations include the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Joel is survived by his parents, Feliciano “Chano” and Irma Ramirez and 3 siblings and a child. 

Pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Joel Ramirez is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
