He was assigned to 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Jacob Gassen was serving as a medic in his first tour of duty overseas when he was killed. The 2008 graduate of Beaver Dam High School had turned 21 on Nov. 19. Jacob attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for one year and was uncertain what his future plans would be. Jacob Gassen is described as popular, well-liked and had many friends in Beaver Dam, Oshkosh, the military, and Columbus where he had attended St. Jerome School.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Jacob A. Gassen is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
