He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment "Wolfhounds" of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks.
David Luff had deployed once before to Iraq. David Luff had moved to Hawaii in 2009 after completing basic and advanced individual training at Fort Knox, Ky., and a first assignment in Fort Lewis, Wash. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Katie and infant son Aidan and numerous other family members.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that David J. Luff Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
