Brett W. Land

A Fort Campbell soldier from California died on Oct. 30, 2010, after his unit was attacked in Afghanistan with an improvised explosive device.

Spc. Brett W. Land, age 24, of Wasco, Calif., died after the explosion occurred in the Zhari district in Kandahar. He was assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.

Brett Land joined the Army in November 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in August 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah E. Meija, and daughter, Riley E. Land, of Hesperia, Calif.; and parents, Kenneth and Gretchen Land, both of Bakersfield, Calif.
